Resource Library

Resource Library Database

Click here to access the Resource Library Database.

Note: The file is over 1MB and may take some time to open.

The Resource Library Database is a compilation of articles, publications, fact sheets, etc. dealing with a wide variety of topics that intersect and overlap with child abuse and neglect prevention. Topics include things like: health, advocacy, family support, substance use/abuse, mental health, parenting, minority communities, types of abuse and prevention and treatment options, evaluation tools and more. The database is available online for you to search. If you find a document you would like to see, WCPCAN is happy to fax or mail you a copy, or you can come in and pick one up yourself. To request an article or publication, email Kristen Rogers at kristen@wcpcan.wa.gov with the following form:

In addition, some documents that are available on the web have the website listed so that you can download the document yourself. Currently whole books and videos can only be borrowed by WCPCAN funded programs.

Here are some tips to help you navigate the database...

The database is organized as follows:

  • Category: Broad topics the articles fall under.

  • Sub Category: More detailed topics in each category.

  • Type of Pub.: WCPCAN categorized each document as a particular publication type. The description of those categories are below.

  • Date: When the item was made public.

  • Publication: Who printed it, made it and or where it came from.

  • To Find: This is mainly for the WCPCAN staff so that they are able to physically locate the document in the office.

  • Summary: A short description of the article and/or information that WCPCAN staff wanted people to know about the document.

  • Web: The location of the document on the web.

Type of Publication descriptions:

  • Journal Article: Research based article from a reputable scientific journal.

  • Book: A book that WCPCAN owns.

  • Book Chapter: Chapter from a published book.

  • Fact Sheet: Bullet point/one-page info sheet on a topic.

  • Newsletter: Newsletter published by an organization (not a commercial/widespread publication).

  • Report: Report from a particular agency or organization.

  • Article: Article from a magazine or other publication other than a scientific journal.

  • Unpub. Article: An article that would be published in a journal or other publication, but is not currently published and/or is not yet public.

  • General Reference: Doesn't fall into one of the other categories.

  • Publication Issue: A whole issue of a magazine or journal dedicated to the topic.

  • Summary: Someone else's summary of an article that is more than one paragraph and contains useful information.

  • Manual: A manual/guide for program implementation or development.

  • Questionnaire: An actual tool/survey/questionnaire - typically associated with evaluation.

  • Video: A video tape owned by WCPCAN.

  • Journal: A journal to which WCPCAN currently subscribes to (or subscribed to in the past) dates indicate the time periods for which we have hard copies of journals.

Search options:

  • To search, go to “Edit”, click on “Find” and put in your search words – to see the next article match, click “Enter”.

  • You can search by inputting the author, category, keyword, title or publication. For example, you could search for “depression” and any article with that word in the title, category, summary or key words will come up.

Future updates:

  • We will continue to update the resource library database and will update the web version on a quarterly basis.

User input:

  • We would love to hear from you! If you see any typos, misspelled author names, know of a website for a particular article, or know of an article that you think should be included, please send it to our Director of Policy and Practice, Kristen Rogers, at: kristen@wcpcan.wa.gov.
